Dear Wonder Lake Chamber of Commerce Members and supporters,
It is with mixed emotions that we write this letter to inform you of the Board of Directors decision to cease operations of The Wonder Lake Chamber of Commerce at the end of this calendar year.
Your membership and support of The Wonder Lake Chamber of Commerce over the years has been a significant source of inspiration to all of us and has truly been appreciated. As a smaller Chamber we have come to realize we cannot sustain our operations and provide value to our membership, despite our strong desire to serve our business community. Smaller Chambers across country are facing this same reality and realizing they must join together with other Chambers to be successful, sustainable and provide value. We are pleased to announce we have been working closely with the Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry over the past few months to forge a strong relationship we feel will be a fantastic fit for our local businesses and organizations. They are excited to present this new opportunity and so are we, as we feel it will provide stability, greatly expanded visibility and many new services for our membership to grow and flourish. I have agreed to serve on the Board of Directors for the Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry to continue to represent and advocate for our Wonder Lake businesses in this new relationship.
The Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce and Industry has a great deal to offer that we were not able to provide our members due to budget and resource constraints. Membership fees are higher, but we believe the level of service, networking opportunities, sponsorship and marketing opportunities, overall visibility to new customers and other local businesses in the County is well worth that investment. The Woodstock Chamber of Commerce & Industry has nearly 300 members and recently changed their name to Woodstock Area Chamber to better serve members in outlying areas and neighboring communities as part of their long term strategic plan for growth. Their dynamic and user friendly website allows members to update information easily and routinely plus submit news, press releases, job postings and events that automatically push out to their Chamber website and social media channels. If we stick together as a group and join the Woodstock Area Chamber, we will be able to add a Wonder Lake section to the Woodstock Area Community Guide book as well as a Wonder Lake Tab to the Woodstock Area Chamber website to insure our success and visibility. Over 10,000 copies of the community guide are printed annually. Many are inserted into the newspaper to NW Herald subscribers in Woodstock and Wonder Lake. The remainder are given to advertising partner businesses, local hotels, area professional service providers, McHenry County CVB, restaurants and other tourist and residential venues like visitor centers, local library, recreation center, City Hall, etc. The information is also available online.
This opportunity, along with many others through the Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry, is great exposure for our Wonder Lake businesses. By joining together and moving over as a group we don’t have to lose our identity as Wonder Lake. With this transition, if we commit to move ahead now, together, we will enjoy many benefits of being recognized as the Wonder Lake business community.
If you have questions and need more information about the Woodstock Area Chamber of Commerce & Industry we encourage you to attend their monthly Chamber Connections 101 Informational Meeting on Oct 24th at 8:30 AM. Please register by calling the Woodstock Area Chamber office at (815) 338-2436. You can also reach out to their President, Danielle Gulli, to schedule a one on one meeting to learn more about the Chamber and how it can benefit your business.
