The Chamber needs YOUR support
December 21, 2009
Dear Chamber member,
It goes without saying that this has been a rough year for most businesses. It has been no different for the Wonder Lake Chamber of Commerce. We are supported by local businesses and community groups. Our membership is down and money is very tight at the Chamber.
A few years back, when the old hardware store became available, the Chamber had the opportunity to rent space with a storefront office. Previously we maintained an office off the beaten path with very little visibility. The move was viewed by all as a great opportunity to increase the Chamber's visibility and be of greater value to the business community.
Our optimism has not been matched, mostly due to the economic downturn. We need your help. Our monthly rent is a constant struggle and we are behind.
Together we have worked hard promoting chamber businesses and highlighting our Chamber and community. If we had to dissolve the Chamber it would end all Chamber functions, including the multi-chamber mixers, the Winter Wonder Walk, the newly established bike race, the golf outing, trade fairs, community information exchange, and our work with local charities. Dissolving the Chamber would also discontinue our efforts with our Fourth of July Committee. Without the Chamber, where would the community go to find dependable businesses?
The basic cost to operate the Chamber for one year for the rent and salary is $11,400. Phones and utilities add an additional $2,400. Basic expenses total $13,800 per year for the Chamber.
We think it is important to maintain our Wonder Lake identity. We've come so far, your support is greatly needed during this tough time for the Chamber. Without your help, there will be no Wonder Lake Chamber of Commerce. We wish you a happy, healthy, and prosperous New Year!
Best Regards,
Dennis Palys
Chamber President
